Meet The Team

    1. After graduating from Northumbria University, Mitch worked for some of the top names in the world of finance before joining deVere United Kingdom as Head of East Midlands in September 2012.

      Focused, creative and driven, Mitch’s remit was to grow the division and, under his leadership, that’s exactly what has happened with a vibrant and expanding team offering a full range of financial planning services to a rapidly growing client base.

      Key to this success has been Mitch’s unswerving commitment to client-centric service backed by his philosophy of building long-term relationships. As he says: “My goal, and the goal of my team, is to build lasting relationships with our clients. We do this by taking time to thoroughly understand our clients’ needs and subsequently build individually-tailored financial plans that meet and often exceed our clients’ wealth management and growth expectations.”

      This commitment to client service was evident well before Mitch joined deVere. In 2008 and 2009 he won the prestigious Financial Times Group Pension Adviser of the Year award and in 2009 he became the Financial Times Overall Life and Pensions Independent Adviser of the Year.

      These achievements, along with an established and successful career in financial services at the highest level caught the eye of deVere and the rest, as they say, is history.

      Today, Mitch offers a full range of independent financial advice, from strategic planning, pensions and investments to inheritance tax planning, portfolio and wealth management and retirement planning. To his expanding portfolio of high net worth and business clients he is the go-to independent financial adviser, noted for his extensive experience, expertise and objectivity.

      Work isn’t Mitch’s only passion. Away from the deVere offices he is a family man who enjoys nothing more than having fun with his children. He’s also keen on keeping fit, enjoys most sports and relaxes with dog walking and horse riding.

    2. Peter is Head of Sales and Technical manager, providing his team of Family Wealth Managers with the necessary support, guidance and technical knowledge required to ensure that our clients receive the best service.

      Starting his career in the financial services industry in 1986, working for Prudential as a district agent, Peter went on to work for a some of the biggest banks in the UK.

      Whilst working in banking, he advised businesses and individuals on most areas of financial planning and has since gained vast experience advising ‘High Net Worth’ individuals, businesses, trusts and charities.

      Peter is experienced in providing clients with a range of independent financial advice, from retirement planning, personal and business protection, inheritance tax planning, investment planning and holistic planning generally.

      He is a Chartered Financial Planner, a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute and has also passed the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners Certificate qualification, allowing him and his team to work more effectively with solicitors and other professionals.

      Peter is an art enthusiast, a motorcyclist and loves spending time in the countryside with his dogs.

    3. John is responsible for helping deVere manage their regulatory responsibilities for the protection of clients, the business and our staff. He will also be the company's Money Laundering Reporting Officer.

      He has extensive experience in Financial Services having started with Equity and Law in 1978. He has undertaken may roles including Advice, Operations and IT and is a Chartered Financial Planner. More recently, his focus has been on Compliance in a number of major IFA Firms.

      Outside work, he plays golf, tennis, squash and badminton and has recently taken up real tennis.

    4. Marc has 30 years’ experience working within the financial services and banking industry. During this time, he has successfully undertaken numerous roles including Financial Planning Manager, Area Sales Manager and Regional Quality Manager. This has given him extensive knowledge across all facets of financial services.

      He has now brought these skills to his role within deVere United Kingdom as Senior Compliance Manager. Along with working with his team to ensure all business is conducted in a compliant manner, he enjoys working with our Family Wealth Managers and the Mortgage team on their training and competency needs.

      Outside of work Marc enjoys travelling, visiting new countries and exploring different cultures.

    5. Chris is our deVere UK Head of Operations. His role involves establishing how technology can be used to optimize productivity and refine the processes we have in place. He also oversees the heads of client support and wealth analysts with the overall aim of ensuring that clients are consistently offered an efficient and streamlined service.

      Chris joined deVere in 2016 as a Wealth Analyst and has an abundance of experience both in managerial roles and within the financial services industry. Many of his roles over the years have allowed him to develop a strong knowledge of financial products and processes, and he excels in carrying out company-wide projects.

      In his free time, Chris enjoys DIY and upcycling old furniture, as well as spending quality time with his wife and dog.

    6. In 2017 Zara was employed in a temporary role to assist the Finance Director in setting up a new accounting system. While completing this task, Zara became one of the team and by the time the temporary role came to an end she was offered a permanent position as a Financial Accountant.

      Once the accounts were up and running Zara needed an additional project to get her teeth into, and has since taken charge of multiple projects including streamlining the company’s dealing instruction process, changing the company’s bank account, and reconciling the monthly income within our back-office system, which had previously been outsourced.

      Zara faced her biggest challenge in the middle of 2018 as the Finance Director moved on and she was offered the position of Financial Controller. Zara continues to work hard in this role, developing and growing with it wherever she can.

      Outside of work Zara enjoys a full-on family life, bringing a new addition to her, now complete, family during 2019.

    7. With over 30 years' experience within the administration field, Tina’s dedicated approach to customer services, organisation and support is second to none.

      As Head of the Wealth Support team, Tina manages our Client Support Executives, using her expertise and professionalism to ensure that every team member works to their highest standard, and always insists on treating customers fairly on every level.

      In her spare time, she is a member of a local scooter club and enjoys spending time with her friends and family.

    8. With over 17 years in financial services Lee plays a key back-office key role in supporting the Family Wealth Managers and heads a team of Wealth Analysts.

      Lee provides background technical support to the team and conducts specialist and tailored research to assist the Family Wealth Managers and other Wealth Analysts in finding the very best solutions for each client’s unique requirements.

      He is diploma qualified and has achieved chartered status, holding several specialist and niche qualifications.

    1. Katherine has been in the financial services industry for 16 years and worked her way through various roles before becoming an independent financial adviser in 2007. She gained a degree in accounting and finance from Nottingham Trent University and has recently joined the Alumni Fellow programme, which allows her to provide current university students with mentoring advice.

      Having joined deVere United Kingdom in May 2014, Katherine is one of the senior team members. She enjoys providing both of her private and corporate clients with a great service and has built strong long-term relationships with many of them.

      Katherine enjoys spending time with her family, baking and playing on both the hockey pitch and netball court.

    2. Lee joined deVere UK in July 2012 as a Senior Paraplanner and Family Wealth Manager. During his time at deVere he has held Senior positions as Head of Paraplanning, Head of Technical and Head of Proposition. Lee took the decision to focus on advising clients, working with his own and Mitch Hopkinson’s clients since 2017, whilst retaining his wider influence on the business as a member of the Investment Committee and Best Advice Team (BAT).

      Lee qualified from Nottingham Trent University with a BA (Hons) in business and financial services in 2007. He started his career with M2 Financial Limited in July 2007, when he worked under Mitch as a Paraplanner, who he had previously worked for in 2005 whilst on placement from university. Lee went on to become Chartered in 2012 before quickly achieving the status of a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) in 2013. Over the years, Lee has accrued many financial industry qualifications and his strengths lie in pensions, taxation and trust planning.

      When Lee isn’t working, he likes to keep fit, watch anything sporty and play (if that’s what you call it!) golf, whilst keeping his wife and dog (Jax) happy.

    3. Nathan has been a part of deVere Group for over six years, providing expert independent financial planning advice to globally mobile families and guiding them to successfully achieve their planning goals.

      With experience working in Qatar, Oman and the UAE before returning to the UK to work with our clients based in Europe and now exclusively the UK, Nathan has first-hand knowledge of living overseas and the bespoke planning needs our expatriate clients require.

      Nathan’s understanding of both UK and overseas financial planning has allowed him to build strong, lasting relationships with his clients, to fully understand their needs and to work with them to find the most suitable solutions.

      A dedicated Family Wealth Manager with a relentless enthusiasm to build on already strong foundations, Nathan is also a committed father and enjoys spending quality time with his family to build long lasting memories.

    4. Anne-Marie has over 19 years of experience within financial services, with the last 12 years working as a financial adviser, helping clients to achieve their goals and aspirations.

      She provides high quality financial planning advice tailored to ensure that clients are on the right path to meet their financial goals, along with protecting families financially along the way.

      Anne-Marie has a truly client focused approach delivering a highly personalised advisory service to her clients. She prides herself on developing long-standing relationships.

      She loves music, travel and snowboarding during winter holidays.

    5. Andrew re-joins us as a Family Wealth Manager. He is a highly experienced financial planner, who has spent many years working in banking and then more recently advising high net worth clients in the medical profession. Andrew already has an excellent knowledge of overseas products so has transitioned very quickly back into his role with deVere UK.

      He has a fantastic attitude when it comes to putting his clients first, which is evident through the long-lasting relationships he has built up over time. His knowledge and experience allow him to formulate excellent solutions for his clients.

      In his spare time Andrew loves nothing more than spending time with his family, especially watching his children play cricket and football.

    6. Mark has worked for over 22 years in financial services. He has demonstrated his ability to effectively built long-term relationships with clients by providing them with a wide range of financial advice on retirement planning, savings, and investments. His organised and client-centric approach to work has certainly proved to inspire customer confidence.

      Outside of work, Mark loves to spend time with his family and cannot wait for his youngest daughter to graduate from university. He enjoys most sports, including Golf, football and cricket.

    7. Samantha has worked within the financial services industry for over twenty years holding positions both with high street banks and IFA practices. She is passionate about the provision of a holistic financial service, working closely with her clients to ensure that their goals and aspirations can be met.

    1. With five years of experience working in administration, Sammy-Jo joined deVere UK in 2018 after working for a global firm in London. She made the decision to return to her hometown in order to have a quieter family life.

      She currently works as a Client Support Executive, acting as a key point of contact for our clients, and regularly liaises with Family Wealth Managers and product providers to ensure that our clients’ administrative needs are met.

      Outside of work Sammy-Jo loves eating out, reading, watching films and spending quality time with her husband and son.

    2. Thomas has only recently joined the financial services industry, starting his career with deVere in July 2018. He has taken on the role as a Client Support Executive working with several advisers over his career. More recently, he has taken on further responsibilities within the Dealing Instruction department, ensuring that clients’ portfolios correspond with the recommendations provided by the Family wealth Managers.

    3. Lee moved to sunny Mansfield in April 2018 and joined deVere United Kingdom as a Client Support Executive in the same month, having worked in pensions and finance related roles over the past twenty years. Originally from Liverpool, he moved to Mansfield via Newcastle to be with his fiancée, who he is due to marry next August. In his spare time, he attends a drama group and volunteers at a local youth club for young people with disabilities. This is something he finds incredibly rewarding on a personal level.

    1. Toby brings 19 years’ experience across several independent financial advice firms in technical support. He joined deVere UK in 2015 to work within the Wealth Analyst department, bringing with him much industry knowledge. He is certainly an asset to the department, producing tailored reports and analysis to a high standard, and on hand to train and mentor the more junior members of the team. Toby enjoys spending time with his family and is a very passionate football supporter.

    2. Whilst new to deVere UK, James has worked in the financial services industry since 2001 and has amassed a broad scope of experience and expertise. Within this time James spent eight years as a Financial Adviser and the last three years as a Paraplanner/Senior Paraplanner. Qualified to diploma level and studying with the aim to become chartered, James has both strong technical knowledge and a passion for a right first time, client centric family wealth proposition. With this in mind, it is with great delight James joined deVere UK as a Wealth Analyst and we are confident that he will add value to any deVere UK client.

      Away from work James is a fan of international Rugby, F1, and tennis. Whilst a fan of sport, James proudly claims to be the best substitute the school sports teacher never used. Despite his great grandfather being an Olympic gold medallist, it was clear James’ abilities were best spent in the pursuit of knowledge. This is what drew James to the financial service industry which he has loved for almost 20 years.

    3. With over 20 years’ experience in the financial services industry as a Mortgage Consultant and more recently a Wealth Analyst, Martin has a desire to provide a high level of client service and is dedicated to improving the investment experience of deVere UK clients.

      As a Wealth Analyst, Martin provides technical support to the deVere wealth managers, ensuring that the information and advice given to our clients is up to date, accurate and meets their financial needs in innovative ways.

      His belief is to provide a level of client service which is above that of which is expected today. Martin says:
      “In our society it is becoming increasingly rare to receive a service you are happy with or one which impresses you as a consumer. I care about the service our clients receive and together with my colleagues, we are raising the standards within the industry to ensure that our clients experience a feeling of satisfaction with the advice they receive and the end result.

      For advice on any financial matter our clients receive a personal service second to none.”

      Outside of working life Martin enjoys being outdoors and is a keen sportsman.

    4. Ian has worked within financial services for 19 years, predominately in the home service sector. He started to build his career in the industry in 1995 as an Insurance Representative, which involved servicing an existing client bank and embracing a wide range of product solutions. These included investments, pensions, life assurance and personal insurances. He was also responsible for organising local advertising and trade events across the East Midlands.

      In 2014, Ian embarked on a consultancy role with deVere in Switzerland. In a competitive market, he enjoyed the experience of business networking and being introduced to high net worth clients, before returning to the UK studying for the Level 4 Diploma in Financial Services, and then working as a financial adviser in Nottingham.

      Returning to deVere in 2019 as a Wealth Analyst, Ian has enhanced his knowledge of the financial services industry and further developed his technical knowledge, with the aim of becoming a Family Wealth Manager with deVere UK.

      Ian has been married for 25 years and has three children. In his spare time, he enjoys playing football and running on a regular basis.

    5. Naomi is relatively new to the banking and finance industry. Having previously worked as a Lettings Manager, she decided to embark on a career change and joined deVere as a Client Support Executive within the Mortgage Team.

      Naomi supported advisors in their day to day tasks and ensured a first-class service for our clients, assisting from the initial mortgage application stage right through to completion.

      She has now decided to progress her career further after enjoying her first year within the sector and is training to become a Wealth Analyst.

    1. David joined deVere as Compliance Advice & Supervision Officer in November 2012.

      He started working in financial services in 1997 as an Insurance Agent with C.I.S, then moving to management positions in both the tied and independent advice fields.

      David has run his own independent compliance and audit consultancy business since 2001, providing services to numerous UK and International clients before making the move to deVere UK.

      David is a family man and most of his spare time is spent socialising with family and friends.

    2. Jennifer has worked within financial services for four years, in a client support role and more recently as a compliance specialist.

      Bringing professionalism, energy and efficiency to her role at deVere, Jennifer is the first point of contact for all clients, including those who are completely new to the company, and those who have returned to the UK from overseas. Always putting clients first, she believes that they are at the heart of any successful business.

      Since joining deVere UK in 2016 she has been integrated into the compliance team due to her methodical approach to work.

      In her spare time Jennifer likes to travel as often as possible and enjoys visiting her family who live in Sweden.
